In 2011, during junior year in college, we had to work on an app of our choosing. During these years, I was thinking a lot about social networks and what made them tick, and what opportunities still existed. One of things that intrigued me was the potential and engagement of student clubs / organizations on student campuses. I also found posters on physical boards across campus the most archaic way to target interested students.
So we decided as a group to work on a social network app for student organizations. Organization profiles, and not student profiles, were at the heart of the experience. Students held roles in different organizations. Organizations invited members, threw events, pushed updates, and more. We used a cutting edge technology called C2DM back then, which would send notifications through cellular networks even when data or WiFi weren't on.
